Stretching from the frozen heights of the lofty Himalayan Mountains to the warm and inviting waters of the Indian Ocean, India is a vast country where many different people have lived for centuries. It is a place where topography has defined many lifestyles, and there should be little wonder that it contains people from many different religious backgrounds.

There are few countries where religious integration has been a peaceful fact of life, and India has not always been an exception to it. Four of the most recognizable religions found there today are the Hindus, the Buddhists, the Sikhs, the Jains and Muslims.
